Trash Cans
A waste container, otherwise known as a trash can, is a container, which is usually made out of metal or plastic.
Indoor trashcans are traditionally kept in the kitchen to dispose of food wastes such as fruit or vegetable peelings orthe plastic baggies and boxes that foodstuffs come packaged in. Sometimes a trashcan is referred to as the garbage can.
Most trashcans have lids on the top of them to seal in the odor that trash, or garbage, tends to give off as it decomposes. Depending the kind that one has, some trashcans have to be opened manually, but some have a little pedal at the bottom that will lift the lid when you step on them.
Indoor trashcans are usually lined with trashbags, which keeps the trashcan cleaner than if the garbage was dumped straight into it. This helps make the removal of the garbage much easier and a bit less nasty.
The curbside trashcans usually consist of three types: trash cans, dumpsters, and wheeled trashcans. Unfortunately, criminals utilize public dumpsters as places for dumping things like bodies of murder victims, bloodstained clothing, and murder weapons. Collectors, who will load the contents into a garbage truck and drive it to a landfill, incinerator or waste sorting facility to be disposed of, empty all of these.
Some areas have a recycling service, and will often provide their customers with one or more dedicated trashcans designated for items that can be recycled into new products, such as glass, aluminum, and paper. The trashcans are separated into different categories that are generally represented by different colours that say what materials go into which trashcan. The usual stuff used for recycling are paper, glass, metal, plastics and "green waste" which is stuff like garden waste or food scraps. The contents of the trashcans are shipped to a recycling plant to be processed, and turned into new stuff.
Most public areas, like parks, have trashcans that are placed alongside paths where people walk. This encourages people to not litter, which can create a dirty and aesthetically unpleasant environment.
Trashcans situated in outdoor locations or other busy public areas are usually fixed to the ground or wall. This helps to prevent theft, and also helps prevent vandalism by making it a lot harder for someone to move the trashcans and spill their contents on the ground.
Trashcans are a very useful part of our everyday lives that we take for granted. There are myriad uses for the humble trashcan. Everything from using the Rubbermaid type ones for storing items in to using a steel trashcan as a turkey fryer. The trashcan will be used for a long time to come.
