Coffee Makers
Of all the small kitchen appliances on the market probably the most important and widespread of them all is the ever-present coffee maker. Millions of people start their day with that shot of caffeinated beverage and the most common way to produce it is through the common drip coffee maker. It is no wonder that free coffee makers are a popular item to offer as a promotion to entice customers.
The drip coffee maker is a simple machine that relies on gravity and heat to take the cold water from the storage chamber through a pipe alongside the heating coils in the base. Bubbles formed in the boiling water carry it to the top where it drips out over the coffee grounds. This electrically operated form of coffee making is the same process as the old styled percolated coffee makers.
A different extraction of the essential oils in the coffee bean and thus a slightly different flavor can be obtained by using a French press coffee maker. With a French press you pour the coffee directly into the heated water and let it steep then force a screened plunger down to push the grounds to the bottom and pour the coffee out. Cappuccino and espresso machines use pressure and heat to drive the boiling liquid through the grounds for an especially strong cup of coffee.
Vacuum coffee makers were all the rage in Europe in the 19th century and many various styles were developed. These vacuum coffee makers used the principles of fluid dynamics to heat the water till it was pushed into the chamber where the ground coffee was at then it would be pulled back out through a vacuum process into the first chamber and served. This provided a hot cup of coffee as opposed to the occasionally tepid variety a French press would produce.
Bunn Manufacturing makes what is often considered to be the absolute best coffee makers and are used extensively in the restaurant industry. Delonghi and Cuisinart also provide very high quality and long lasting coffee making machines. Reviews vary and the coffee makers produced by Braun, Keurig and Krups also get high ratings for quality and reliability. Coffee makers are produced in several sizes to fit the individual's needs. There are single cup coffee makers and the four cup "Mr. Coffee" type of drip coffee makers. For larger crowds or the individual that is into mass consumption there are 12 cup coffee makers and of course the catering sized coffee makers that provide for a large party.
